My name is Simone, and I’ve been flying drones for over 6 years.
It all started in 2020, when I was about to begin a 6-month road trip around Australia with my ex-girlfriend.
I wanted a way to capture memories from that adventure, so instead of buying a traditional camera, I bought my very first drone: the DJI Mini 2.
At the time, I was a complete beginner. I had never owned a camera before, I had never studied filmmaking or cinematography, and I definitely had no idea that drones would one day change my life. I simply wanted to have fun and create beautiful photos and videos while traveling.
But after my very first flight, something clicked.
I fell in love with the perspective a drone could give me, the ability to see the world from above and share that feeling with my friends and family back in Italy. It gave me a completely new way to tell stories and show the beauty of the places I was exploring.
Of course, the beginning wasn’t smooth.
I crashed several times. I made a lot of mistakes. I even lost around 90% of the footage from that trip. But little by little, flight after flight, I kept improving.
Then in 2021, while traveling in Indonesia, tourism boards started noticing my aerial content and I landed my first collaboration. That was the moment I realized this wasn’t just a hobby anymore, this passion could actually become my career.
Today, I’ve launched my own drone business, SimoneAerials. I’m still traveling, still creating content for brands and businesses, but now I’m also doing what once felt impossible: I’m monetizing my biggest passion and turning my dream of continuing to travel into a real lifestyle!
